Piazza Augusto Imperatore

I.N.P.S. Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Sociale
formerly Istituto Nazionale Fascista Previdenza

This is the most embellished section of the facades of the 2 institute buildings. It was placed on office building B, which runs along the north side of the mausoleum. The mosaic and inscription with reliefs below are not centered on the Mausoleum but rather are centered on the broad street in front of the main office buidling, A. The glazed ceramic mosaic was designed by the world-famous Italian artist Ferruccio Ferrazzi. The mosaics represent the "Birth of Rome" with the standing figure of the Tiber River in the center, holding Romulus and Remus. The she wolf looks up from below, no longer nursing. Although traditionally represented as a mature man with flowing beard, the Tiber is here represented as a virile youth. Various noble labors are represented on the mosaics along the sides.
